Judy Joseph-Black joins the team at BC Seniors Games Society
Sidney – The BC Seniors Games Society (BCSGS) is pleased to announce the addition of Judy Joseph-Black to the team as an Event Manager. She recently worked for the BC Games Society in the same role and has decades of Sport Administration experience behind her.
Along with the rest of the BCSGS staff, Judy will work with communities in the planning, operation and staging of the 55+ BC Games. In essence, the team will be walking alongside the host society Board of Directors to ensure they are on the right path in planning the Games.
“I’m looking forward to working with this team,” said Joseph-Black. “Working with the BC Seniors Games Society is a natural progression for me after working with the BC Games, Team BC and Team Canada.”
Judy is a self-proclaimed multi-sport Games junkie. She has worked at five Paralympic Games, two Commonwealth Games, a dozen Canada Games along with several BC Games and North American Indigenous Games. She has managed the national Women’s Soccer Team, worked as a sport consultant with the provincial government and oversaw a Provincial Sport Organization as the Executive Director.
“We are so pleased that Judy has decided to join our staff,” said BCSGS president, Cindy Simpson. “Her expertise will be invaluable as we navigate through this new normal we find ourselves in. These will be our first Games since the pandemic and we will rely on our staff to create an optimal safe, competition environment for our participants.”
Judy’s first day in her new position will be September 1, 202. The next 55+ BC Games will be held September 14-18, 2021 in Victoria and the surrounding area in 2022, Abbotsford will host the Games August 23-27.
Each year the Games attract approximately 3,600 participants and require approximately 1,200 volunteers to stage and deliver the Games in the Host Community. Participant registration for the Greater Victoria 2021 55+ BC Games will open March 1, 2021. For more information about the 55+ BC Games, visit www.55plusbcgames.org
