“Give it a Try!” Program

The BC Seniors Games Society (BCSGS) is pleased to collaborate with the BC Recreation and Parks Association(BCRPA) and with the support of the Government of Canada, to offer grants of $500 – $2,500 to local communities to host “Give it a Try!” events.

While this year’s events may look and feel a little different due to new COVID-19 safety policies and procedures, there are still many activities that can be sampled in a safe and fun way.

“Give it a Try!” is a one-day event that provides anyone over the age of 55 an opportunity to try a sport that is offered in the 55+ BC Games at their local community centre.  It is an opportunity for members of the community to come together through sport to learn more about the 55+ BC Games as well as the services and programs offered at their local community centre.

The grant application window closed November 13, 2020.  Events will take place between January to June 2021 in various communities throughout the province.  Specific event details will be updated closer to each event date.

2021/04/22 update – Given the current restrictions in BC from the Provincial Health Officer, the time frame for hosting “Give it a Try!” events has been extended from June 2021 until Spring 2022.
